Here are some ideas I had for Domains. Since flowers are useful in other ways, I'll nix that idea. I had briefly entertained the thought of Cute Furry Animals after watching Bambi, but I think maybe we'll pass on that too. Bright Shiny Things (Ooo! A quarter! Ooo! Fireworks!) I think I'd have fun playing this. This would probably be a Heaven-aligned thing, or with the Wild. I think it'd be mostly (if in combat) defensive but I certainly can think of offensive ways to use bright shiny things. Trees Most likely associated with the Wild. Probably would look like a dryad or some such. I could see basing her on something like the Discworld dryad that Rincewind meets. I could see this being associated with Heaven as well, since that's all for beauty. For something a little darker, perhaps something with powers like Storm from X-men. I always thought she was the coolest. *grin* I could see that being aligned with any of the groups. So, thoughts? I'd like some idea if you think any of these are too narrow or too broad or wouldn't work with the others. Once I pick one of them I can flesh out the rest of the character. --- Aspect: 1 MP: 5 Domain: 3 MP: 6 Realm: 1 MP: 5 Spirit: 2 MP: 5 Gifts: Immutable: 1 point. You grow hungry or tired, but can survive indefinitely without food, water, sleep, or even air. You age slowly, but you will not die of natural causes. Durant: 1 point. You are difficult to injure and heal quickly. Flight: 1 point. Handy for winged characters. Unnecessary for winged characters with an Aspect of 5, who get it automatically. Flaws: Affiliation: The Light. Mission: Er, I dunno. Domain limit: Can control the weather, but finely tuned control is very difficult or impossible (I could see a specific lightning strike being easier to control, as compared to say, the wind or fog or something, but also being more problematic if I lost control of it.) Can be summoned and can’t leave an unbroken pentagram. 2 MP paid whenever it comes up. (I love this one.) - I just can't resist the idea of being able to have something Disc-esque in my character. ;) I WAS AT A PARTY... Possibly summoned by a rain-dance and can't leave the circle of dancers? Cannot use modern technology. 1 MP, but it comes up often. Bonds: Chieftain 3 Woman (Suari) 4 Bob 1 Waterfall 1 (place in the mountains, high up) People 2 (general, and the Mission) Native amers 5 Nature 1 Weather 2 I've decided to go with "weather". After much searching (*rubs eyes*) I have found this: http://www.pantheon.org/mythica/articles/t/thunder_bird.html A basic run-down of why I think the Thunder Bird would be a good beginning for this character is that: 1) N America has a lot of different weather 2) Many different native american nations had the thunderbird in their mythology 3) It was actually *benevolent* and a protector of man, unlike most others. (I did find one other that was benevolent, in Slavic folklore, the Vila, but they're more than one entity) So how does this sound (I haven't looked at point values yet): The Thunder Bird may have attracted the attention of the Imperator merely by being in so many different nation's mythologies. Perhaps, if the Imperator is aligned with the Light, it may have also noted that "Hey look, here's one which likes people too, unlike all the others". Once the Thunder Bird was imbued with the weather aspect, (I'm not sure how this would work - does it give a myth sentience and reality?) the thunder bird took on other aspects of weather as well. It cares about the native american peoples the most, and wishes to stop oppression of them. Its anchors are two native americans - one woman and one man. The woman is one who was to sacrifice herself in the interest of her tribe by jumping from a mesa (I read something like this somewhere when I was in Arizona) to bring the rains. She was very beautiful and the thunder bird came to her and brought the rains, and asked her to not jump. He fell in love with her bright intelligence, and she is very important to him. The man was a chief who saw the thunderbird bathing in a pool by a mountain waterfall one day. Upon seeing the bird, he befriended it by bringing rare and colorful beads to make a rainbow crest which shone in the spray of the falls. This chieftain is less important than the girl, but still important to the thunderbird. The bird also cares about nature, and trees and plants to some extent. However it will sacrifice these things if it thinks that bad weather will help save man somehow. I'm trying to think of an example... but I'm sure that one will come to me. It also likes all aspects of Weather. Clouds make it happy. Lightning makes it happy. Snow makes it happy. It cares about people in general, and wishes they would all get along. It has a hard time understanding them, sometimes, and tries to do things that it thinks will help keep them from self-destructing.
